Founded by Lucien Bigard in 1968, the Bigard Group is a livestock slaughtering and meat processing company in the French food industry specialising in pork, lamb, veal and beef. The company's headquarters and main processing site is located in Quimperlé, the group's historic factory. The company has 54 sites in France, including 28 slaughterhouses, i.e. about half of the French private slaughterhouses. Among the company's slaughterhouses are the five sites of its subsidiary Charal. With a solid reputation in local markets, and in Europe, the BIGARD group is also present on the international scene through several organisations working in export and processing (in Asia, India and South America). The Bigard group has a turnover of 4.5 billion euros and exports 65,000 tonnes of meat each year (90% pork, 10% beef and poultry).
